My Creative Process

It's important for anyone in the arts to have a creative process. However, that process isn't always easy to figure out. I've spent a lot of time now finding out what works and what doesn't work when trying to get into the right head space to create art. What I've found works for me is first off making sure I'm working in a clean and comfortable environment. I like to work on my art in my room at my desk. Usually I'll light a candle and turn on some dim lighting around my room. The only bright light I use is the one on my desk. A very important step for my creative process is music. I need to have some sort of music playing. The type of music I decide on always depends on the kind of piece I want to create. If it's something more emotionally driven I'll opt for instrumental music but if it's something more light-hearted I'll choose a playlist to match.

Something else I've come to discover about my creative process is that I can't go into a piece of art thinking it's going to be a grand masterpiece. Sometimes you have off days. Sometimes a piece doesn't turn out the way it did in your head and that's okay. So, I've learned to go in with a mentality that it could end up just staying a doodle or, if I really like the direction it's heading in, I'll continue to invest time into it until I reach a result I'm satisfied with.
